Description: The Structural Collapse course will address in a mix of classroom and field exercises, the tools and techniques required to mitigate light frame structural collapse in search and rescue operations. Topics include: structural assessment, building types, deployment considerations, vertical, horizontal, laced post, and raker shoring will be taught. In addition, breaching techniques, the use of specialized cameras, and listening devices for searching voids in collapse situations. This course is taught on a regional basis by TARS certified college level instructors.

Notes: Personal Protective Equipment for this class will be construction type clothing to include the following:
ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2009 Class E Type I Approved Helmet or Construction type hard hat
ANSI Z87.1+ Approved Eye protection
Hearing protection - Noise Reduction Rating NRR: 32 dB. CSA Class AL
Leather gloves preferably not fire gloves
Hammer minimum 16oz
Nail apron
Tape measure
Pencil note pad
Hard sole work boots steel toe preferred
Long pants
